I have to admit, I am a little late to the podcast movement and stumbled across it completely by accident. I have always been a fan of Angela Watson – her blog and her books are wonderful. I actually stumbled across her podcast from Pinterest!!
We are know that for teachers there just never seems to be enough hours in the day. No podcasts can’t solve that issues, but I think they are great to listen to while you are driving, folding laundry, walking your dog or another fun chore you have to do!! What I really liked about Angela’s podcast was it’s almost like she’s chatting with you. As a fellow educator, it’s always interesting to hear things from another perspective. I also love that her podcasts are only 15 – 20 minutes long.
Another podcast that I’m a big fan of is the Google Teacher Tribe with Kasey Bell of Shake Up Learning. After following her blog for many years and hearing her in person at several conferences, it’s like catching up with an old friend! Her podcasts are longer and focused on technology but you don’t need a computer in front of you to enjoy them and learn new things.
So how do you listen to Podcasts? If you have an IPhone, you already have a dedicated app called Podcasts. In this app you can search for podcasts and subscribe to them. That way you will automatically receive new episodes.
If you’re an Android user, you just need to download a podcast app.
There are thousands of podcasts out there for teachers – once you start looking I’m sure you’ll be able to find one or more that matches what you are looking for. Here’s a list of 36 highly recommended ones to get you started!
